Hew Elcock, a native of Montreal, Canada, now lives and works in Prince Edward County, Ontario. He received his BFA from The Philadelphia College of Art in 1971, then returned to Canada, living and working in Toronto.
Between 1971 and 1983, he had one-man shows in Ottawa and Toronto (Le Hibou, Erindale College Gallery, The University of Toronto, Loranger Gallery, and Nancy Poole's Studio). His work was also exhibited at Bau-xi in Toronto and
Art Rental at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Although he continued to paint and make prints, he focused more from the mid-1980s through 2004 on raising a family and teaching art and philosophy at Upper Canada College in Toronto. The paintings and prints produced during this period were sold privately and never exhibited. He has returned to painting and printmaking since moving two hours from Toronto.
